Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) and Bharat Heavy Electronics Limited (BHEL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation and development of solar power projects across India.
The MoU was signed by Santanu Roy, Executive Director (Business Development), GAIL and S. Seetharaman, General Manager (Renewable Energy & Water Business), BHEL. Manoj Jain, Director (Business Development) GAIL and S. Balakrishnan Director (IS&P) BHEL were present during the signatures.
GAIL will be the developer of the solar power projects while BHEL will act as the Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Project Management Contractor. BHEL will also provide Operation and Maintenance services during the initial period upon becoming successful bidder.
According to the Maharatna PSUs, this MoU will help both the organisations to build a substantial portfolio in solar power projects in line with INDC targets of Government of India.
GAIL is India’s biggest natural gas company which works across the areas of value chain of trading, transmission, LPG production and transmission, LNG re-gasification, petrochemicals and city gas. The PSU Company owns and operates across 11,400 kilometres of high pressure trunk pipelines.
BHEL works in the field of design, engineering, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of solar power plants and has a portfolio of more than 700 megawatt.
