The Uttar Pradesh Commercial Tax Department is going to start electronic court hearing (e-courts) especially for big businessmen also known as corporate dealers.
Once they start, the dealers won’t need to visit the Department for every hearing or to reply to notices. UP will become the first State to implement e-courts.
“Under the e-court system, a dealer will be issued tax assessment notices on his registered e-mail id and also sent an alert SMS on the registered cell number, asking him to send back documents like balance sheets, invoices, bills etc. The assessing officer will examine the documents and will ask for further clarifications if any and pass a final order which will be sent to the dealer to his e-mail,” said Commercial Tax Commissioner Kamini Ratan Chauhan.
Currently, the dealers have to visit the Commercial Tax offices personally for any kind of submission of documents or to present their case.
The department will also provide login ids to dealers as well as the assessment officers.
This facility will be provided to 21 Commercial tax offices of UP.
In UP, there are around 3,000 corporate dealers that together contribute around 80% of the total GST to the state exchequer.
