Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to preside over meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) today, followed by Union Cabinet meeting at his residence.
The meetings come a day after an IAF pilot was captured by Pakistan after an air combat during which the two sides said they shot down each other’s warplanes.
The meeting also holds significance in the wake of Pakistan on Wednesday seeking international community to play a role in ensuring peace with India and its Prime Minister Imran Khan inviting India for talks, saying a better sense should prevail.
The peace gesture came in the light of Tuesday’s air strikes by the Indian Air Force (IAF) on terror camps in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.
“I want to now address India and say let sanity prevail. Let’s think sensibly,” Pakistan media quoted Prime Minister Khan as saying during his national address on Wednesday.
